Natural Paper Making Workshop (Part 2)

  • Whitaker Ponds Nature Park 7040 NE 47th Avenue Portland United States (map)

Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council's Education Director, Jennifer Starkey, for an evening of working with natural materials to make paper. This two part event will take place on Thursday, July 13, and Thursday, July 20. Participants are welcome to attend one, or both, events. This event is open to all ages.

What to expect: Participants who join Part 2 will have access to the yellow flag iris that was collected at the Part 1 Workshop. From there, the group will continue to process the plant, strain the plan and then make it into paper. The paper does take some time to dry and participants will receive their final product in the mail shortly after the event.

Getting there: This event will be taking place at the Columbia Slough Watershed Council office located at 7040 NE 47th Ave. Free parking is available at Whitaker Ponds - from the park, follow signs towards the southern end of the parking lot towards a house. That's us! Taking public transportation? Bus #75 stops at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd. Walk north on NE 47th Ave about 0.25 miles, and Whitaker Ponds Nature Park will be on your right.

What to bring: Nothing! Columbia Slough Watershed Council will provide all supplies, as well as some light snacks and cold drinks to share.

Accessibility: A restroom will be available throughout the event. The majority of the event will be spent indoors with chairs available.
