Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council and resident owl expert Elaine Murphy for a free night walk at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park. This family-friendly event is open to all people, and all ages!
Owls are vocal ventriloquists and nighttime predators who court and establish their territory during the fall and winter months, making them more vocal. Our group will meet in the parking lot and kick off this event with some background information from Elaine, and then together, walk the 0.5 mile loop at Whitaker Ponds.
What to bring: Bring water, warm layers, your rain jacket and close toed shoes. Columbia Slough Watershed Council will have a hot beverage to share if you want to bring your own mug, or borrow one of ours! *Don't have a warm/waterproof jacket? Reach out to Amanda.
Accessibility: Free parking is available and a porta-potty is located in the parking lot at Whitaker Ponds. The loop around Whitaker Ponds is a mostly flat dirt trail.
Public Transportation: Bus #75 drops riders off at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd, a 0.25 mile walk from the park entrance.
