Come explore a constructed wetland which cleans stormwater runoff before it enters the Columbia Slough! This 13-acre site looks and acts much like a natural wetland and removes harmful pollutants before they impact the Slough. It also provides wildlife habitat for native wetland birds, amphibians, and dragonflies. You’ll even get to see how a family of beavers has moved in and changed everything.
About the Speaker: Katie Holzer is a Watershed Scientist with the City of Gresham. She has a PhD in ecology and studies pollution, urban water systems, and ways that people and wildlife can coexist.
Accessibility: This event will include a short walk around a constructed wetland site. We will stay on the paved path for this event.
Directions: Park in the driveway to the east of 19379 NE Sandy Blvd. About 10 cars can fit in this site. If it fills up, you can park in the warehouse parking lot and walk ~3 minutes to the site. Google maps image marking the driveway and extra parking is below.
