Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council for a unique Slough Science event with local Portland authors Nancy Henry and Bruce Campbell. Their recent book, This Rough Magic: At Home on the Columbia Slough, offers readers a lush tale of learning about, advocating for, and explaining the mysteries of Portland’s most hidden natural landscape, the wet and wild Columbia Slough.
At this December Slough Science, participants will have an opportunity to listen to the authors read an excerpt from the book, purchase books on-site, ask questions, and get their books signed. Books can also be purchased ahead of time from Powells, bookshop.org, and many other places. Registration is free and open to all ages. Level Beer offers NA options, and food is available for purchase from food carts on site, including Grana (Neopolitan-style pizza), Flor de Guelaguetza, Pita Giovanni & Tidal Boar "Shuck Truck".
Visit their website to learn more about the book and the authors.
Getting There: This event will take place at the Level Beer located on NE 148th. Free parking is available. Taking public transportation? Bus #21 drops riders off at 148th & Sandy, 0.6 miles away from Level Beer.
