UPDATE: This event has been rescheduled due to extreme heat. The new event will take place on July 18 at 6pm. If you were already registered, you need to reregister to secure your spot.
Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council's Education Director, Jennifer Starkey, for an evening of working with natural materials to make paper. This free event is open to all ages, minors must be accompanied by an adult.
What to expect: Participants will work with yellow flag iris, an opportunistic plant commonly found in the Columbia Slough. The group will process and strain the plant, and then make it into paper. The paper does take some time to dry and participants will receive their final product in the mail shortly after the event.
Getting there: This event will be taking place at the Columbia Slough Watershed Council office located at 7040 NE 47th Ave. Free parking is available at Whitaker Ponds - from the park, follow signs towards the southern end of the parking lot towards a house. That's us! Taking public transportation? Bus #75 stops at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd. Walk north on NE 47th Ave about 0.25 miles, and Whitaker Ponds Nature Park will be on your right.
What to bring: Nothing! Columbia Slough Watershed Council will provide all supplies, as well as some light snacks and cold drinks to share.
Accessibility: A restroom will be available throughout the event. The majority of the event will be spent outdoors with seating available.
