Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council for the annual Great Slough Cleanup! This year we will be working in 2 different locations to remove trash from in and around the Slough. These events are best suited for those 14 and older, minors must be accompanied by an adult.
What To Bring: Pack along water, dress for the weather (think sun hat and sun protection), and wear close toed shoes. The Council will have trash pickers, gloves, trash bags, and light snacks.
Whether or not you can join the cleanup, we invite you to join us at Level Beer (5211 NE 148th Ave) starting at 12:15pm. Volunteers first drink will be on us! Additional food will be available for purchase.

Join us on land at the NE 143rd Levee 10am - 12pm
This location will offer an opportunity for participants to clean up trash and debris on land via the the NE 143rd Levee and the Columbia Slough Trail, both of which surround the Columbia Slough.
Getting There: Free parking (and bike parking) will be available at Speed’s Towing (14333 NE Whitaker Way). Taking public transportation? Bus #21 and the MAX Blue Line make stops nearby.
Accessibility: Participants must navigate up a gravel hill at the beginning of the event, and back down at the end. There will be options throughout the event to work on flat gravel surfaces, as well as along hillsides. There will be no restroom on site.
Join us on the water NE Glassplant & NE Alderwood 9am - 12pm
This location will offer an opportunity for participants to get on the water to remove trash and debris from in and along the Slough’s banks. Bring your own boat, or reserve a seat in one of ours. All reserved seats come with a life jacket and paddle.
Getting There: Free parking street parking is available at NE Glassplant & NE Alderwood. Taking public transportation? Bus #87 makes the closest stop to the area by dropping riders off at NE 105th & Simpson, a 0.2 mile walk.
Accessibility: There is no restroom on site. This requires participants navigate a small hill to get to the boat launch area, get into and out of a canoe, as well as stay seated for ~1.5 hours. Previous paddling experience is not required.
