NOTE: Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled due to weather and safety concerns.
Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for a free winter community paddle at Smith & Bybee Wetlands! All ages are welcome to this community event - minors must be accompanied by an adult.
This event will be held on the water - participants are welcome to bring their own boat, or reserve a seat in one of ours!
Getting There: We will meet at the boat launch at Smith & Bybee Wetlands Natural Area, located just past the main parking lot - look out for the Columbia Slough Watershed Council sign. Parking is free, but may require a short walk from the main parking lot to the launch area. Taking public transportation? Bus #11 stops on the 5300 block of N Marine Dr, about 0.5 miles from the entrance to Smith & Bybee.
What to bring: Pack along water, maybe a thermos with a hot beverage and come prepared for the weather - think warm and waterproof layers. If you are bringing your own boat, don't forget your life jacket and paddle! If you are borrowing a seat in one of our boats, make sure to register in advance - space is limited. We will have snacks to share!
Accessibility: A restroom is located in the main parking lot. Previous paddling experience is not required. Participants must be able to sit for 1 - 2 hours.
