Birding Paddle with Feminist Bird Club

  • Whitaker Ponds 7040 NE 47th Ave Portland, OR 97218 (map)

Join Feminist Bird Club and Columbia Slough Watershed Council for an evening on the water at Whitaker Ponds! Our partner, Feminist Bird Club, is dedicated to promoting inclusivity in birding while fundraising and providing a safe opportunity for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, and women to connect with the natural world. All who support that mission are welcome to join this free event. This event is free and open to all ages - minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Getting There: We will meet at Whitaker Ponds Nature Park! Free parking is available in the park, however limited. Carpooling is recommended if possible. Taking public transportation? Bus #75 drops riders off at NE 47th Ave and Columbia Blvd, a 0.25 mile walk from the park entrance.

What to bring: Pack along water, your binoculars, and dress for the weather. If you are bringing your own boat, don't forget your life jacket and paddle. If you are borrowing a seat in one of our boats, make sure to register in advance - space is limited. We will have snacks and cold drinks to share, as well as binoculars for folks who need to borrow throughout the event!

Accessibility: There is a porta potty on site. There is a dirt path and a few steps that participants must navigate to get onto the boat launch area. Participants must be able to sit for 1 - 2 hours.
