Can you spare a few minutes to help shape the future of the managed floodplain?
This post was written by the Multnomah County Drainage District
For the last century, infrastructure like levees and pump stations have reduced flooding along the Columbia River in Multnomah County.
Because of this infrastructure, this area is now home to the Portland International Airport, our back-up drinking water supply, an Army National Guard base, and thousands of homes, businesses, and jobs.
In 2019, the State of Oregon recognized the immense value of this region through the creation of a new special district to address flood safety, contribute to the health of the watershed, prepare for and adapt to climate change, promote equity and social justice in all aspects of its operations, and provide the public with education regarding the cultural history of the area.
As this new district forms, the Board of Directors is working on developing the Vision, Mission, and Values of the district, and would like to hear your thoughts. Will you take a few minutes to complete this survey?
This anonymous survey will be open until the end of the day on Friday, May 14th.
Once you complete the survey, please consider forwarding the link on to your friends, family, and neighbors.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts.
